Steven A. Davis, M.D
Director and Principal Investigator
The center’s founder and principal investigator, got his B.A. in Economics from Yale University and his M.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. Dr. Davis completed his dermatology residency at the University of California San Francisco Medical School, after which he was on the academic faculty there for six years. He was certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 1977. Dr. Davis has over 20 years of experience doing clinical research studies.
He has published in the lay and scientific press and is currently Adjunct Professor, Medicine/Dermatology & Cutaneous Surgery, at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. In additional to his dermatology practice – the Dermatology & Laser Center of San Antonio™ – Dr. Davis was one of the original founders and servedd on the Executive Board of BioMedSA, (see BioMedSA.org) and the Foundation Board of the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center. Dr. Davis also has an extensive background in media experience, including 33 continuous years as the producer and voice of “Speaking of Health” an award-winning feature on the CBS Radio Network.
Janice K. Orem, CMA
Graduated from San Antonio College with an Associate of Arts in Business Technology in May 1975. In 1977, she became a Certified Medical Assistant. From 1976 to 2007 she was the Business Manager for a busy Urology Practice with 5 physicians and 17 ancillary personnel.
She has been involved with clinical research since 1994 and joined the Dermatology Clinical Research Center of San Antonio in January 2008. She is a member of the following organizations: San Antonio Medical Managers, Medical Group Management Association, American Medical Assistants, Bexar County Medical Assistants, and Association of Clinical Research Professionals.
Janice is a very active member of the San Antonio community and does volunteer work for her church and several nursing homes.
Judy Lochte, CMA
Judy has been in clinical research for over 15 years. She joined the Dermatology Clinical Research Center of San Antonio in April of 2013.
Judy is a dedicated member of her church, does volunteer work and in her spare time, had made many beautiful quilts.
Daniel Wallis, M.D.
Dr. Wallis, born and raised in Arkansas, received a B.A. from Drury University in 2012, and then went on to receive his M.D. from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2016, where he was also inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his intern year in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2017, and completed his dermatology residency at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in 2020.
Outside of medicine, he is also a musician, enjoys tinkering with cars, and likes to explore the outdoors. He loves the warm weather in San Antonio, and after spending some time here during his intern year, he knew he had to come back. He is happy to be here!
Loren Marie, MPH, PA-C
An NCCPA certified physician assistant with a Masters of Public Health. She grew up in the Chicagoland area and attended undergraduate school at the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL. After graduation she worked for Norwegian Cruise Line cruising the Caribbean and then lived in Southeast Florida for 16 years. She attended Nova Southeastern University in Florida for physician assistant school. At the same time, she earned a second bachelors in Physician Assistant Studies, and masters degree of Public Health along with the Dean’s Award for Highest Scholastic Achievement in Public Health. She has been practicing medicine since 1998. Having worked in primary care, allergy, asthma and immunology, otolaryngology, neurotology, she has been practicing dermatology in San Antonio since 2014.
She enjoys helping patients of all ages. She feels her career as a physician assistant has been an exciting opportunity to help others in many different specialties, as well as an honor, a privilege and a blessing. Loren is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Dr. Davis.
After moving to a warm climate with such friendly Texans in 2011, she is excited to call San Antonio, Texas her home.
Stephanie Kaiser, PA-C
Received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Shenandoah University in 2015. She is a nationally board certified Physician Assistant and licensed in the state of Texas. She grew up in New York and moved to San Antonio with her husband. Stephanie has a diverse clinical background with a focus in pediatrics and dermatology.
Stephanie is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
